Windmills in West Sussex
Shipley Windmill
Very interesting site about Shipley Mill (more correctly titled King's Mill, Shipley) which, apparently is the biggest and also the youngest (1879) in Sussex. The mill has a strong association with Sussex writer Hilaire Belloc, who lived here between 1906 and his death in 1953.
Restoration was completed in 1991 and there used to be a visitor centre alongside the Mill - although this has now closed.
The mill is no longer open to the public but can still be seen from parts of Shipley village and is an important local landmark.
High Salvington Windmill
High Salvington Windmill isn't open all the time so check for details before starting your journey. What you'll find when you get there is 250+ year old working windmill which was restored in 1991 and is cared for by the High Salvington Mill Trust.Jack & Jill Windmills Society
