Hurst Festival
Hurstpierpoint's annual celebration
of arts, music and village life
Some, like the Chichester Festivities and Arundel Festival, are fairly lavish affairs, with famous performers and celebrities shipped in from around the world.
Others, like those at Uckfield and Hurstpierpoint, may not have the same budget, but they have plenty of passion, imagination and, above all, variety.
The Hurst Festival at Hurstpierpoint lasts for a full two weeks and has a bit of everything.
Where else would you expect to see a 150 strong army of medieval soldiers marching to a Medieval Fair one day followed by an evening of silent films and poetry the next?
Hurst Festival also includes a Fine Food and Drink Market, a varied mixture of musical styles from blues to hip hop, premieres of new pieces of theatre, stand-up comedy, writing workshops, special events to amuse children plus traditional Sussex countryside entertainment like Punch and Judy shows and - inevitably - Morris Dancing.
The Festival makes use of some fine venues too, from Hurstpierpoint's pretty high street to Danny Park and Hurstpierpoint College.
