About West Sussex.info
We really like it here in West Sussex
We here at West Sussex.info have a simple aim.We want to build the most comprehensive website about West Sussex, packed with photos and information about the culture, heritage and life of West Sussex.
West Sussex is a great place to live and deserves to be celebrated.
So we have linked out thousands of other local West Sussex organisations' websites and descriptions of what they do and why they are interesting.
And we've written about and photographed things that deserve to be photographed and....er, written about.
We have also compiled a whole stack of information about things to do in West Sussex and tips to help you get the most out of West Sussex.

Why not advertise?
If you're a business in West Sussex and you'd like to appear on this site, then this is how you advertise on West Sussex.info
Who are we
West Sussex.info is mostly the work of Mark Hoult (right), who is Chichester born and bred, strong in arm and thick in head.Having travelled the world (some of it anyway) Mark realised he wanted to know more about where he lived.
And guess what? - he found that West Sussex was one of the best places around - full of hidden treasures, beautiful places and great things to do.
Some of those hidden treasures, beautiful places and great things to do are here on West Sussex.info. And we point you in the direction of thousands of excellent local websites where you can find out more.
If you want to send a message to Mark you can get hold of him here
Who were are not!
We're not connected with any governmental organisation and we only include things that we like. We're not the council and we're not the tourist office either. We proud that we haven't received a penny of state funding.
We avoid commenting on politics, religion and other controversial subjects because life's too short to upset people.

Privacy policy
We have a simple privacy policy. We don't collect any data about you and we don't, therefore, pass any data about you on to anyone else.
From time to time our site may contain links to other sites which may note that you have visited them by following a link from our site, but we cannot do anything about that.
Also, from time to time we may show advertising provided by third-party advertising programs which use may collect information about you in the course of serving those adverts. We make sure that we only partner with reputable firms - anyone who we feel doesn't respect our visitors' privacy gets the chop.
Analytics data
The site uses Google Analytics.
This is very important to us.
It tells us how many people have visited the site and which pages have been visited in aggregate.
These cookies don’t collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how the website works.
So we just use this data to make the site work better and to demonstrate to our advertisers what great value WestSussex.info is.
But happily there is no way of identifying or tracking you from this data. And neither would we want to track you. That would be just plain bad manners. We're happy enough that you have visited our site, without us wanting to intrude.
The ICO recommends that we include the wording "By using our website, you agree that we can place these types of cookies on your device." - so there we have it.
Log Files
As with most other websites, we also collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files include your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP, the browser you used to visit our site, the time you visited our site and which pages you visited throughout our site.
But again, we don't know who you are or anything about you. We look at the information in our log files in aggregate to determine which pages need to be improved in terms of content and usability.
Cookies and Web Beacons
We do not use cookies to store information, such as your personal preferences when you visit our site.
But we do sometimes use third party advertisements to support our site. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on our site, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google AdSense program) information including your IP address, your ISP , the browser you used to visit our site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites).
Google's use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and other sites on the Internet. This has the benefit of making sure that our pages are not covered with totally irrelevant ads that you have no interest in whatsoever.
If you would like to know more about this then there is more information about it here
You can chose to disable or selectively turn off third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in programs such as Norton Internet Security. However, this can affect how you are able to interact with our site as well as other websites. This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts.
As soon as Google comes up with a practical way of managing cookie consent to this service then we will implement it.

The copyright in this site is owned by WestSussex.info with the exception of a tiny, tiny, tiny proportion of our photos, which are re-used under a Creative Commons license. The owner of the copyright holder is indicated in the Title attribute of each photograph and the specific Creative Commons license which applies to each specific photograph is also noted there. Some of these photos come from the excellent Geograph website - this is a great idea: dividing the UK into squares and encouraging people to post photos of each and every square online.
